Birds spend much of their time searching for food, especially during nesting and while raising chicks. They invest tremendous energy, creativity, patience, and persistence in this pursuit. Some species are vegetarian, others carnivorous, and many are opportunistic, eating whatever comes their way. It is fascinating to observe the evolutionary match between a bird’s unique physical structure and the type of food it relies on. It is no coincidence that Darwin drew some of his greatest inspiration from studying birds.
